'Homecoming' by Periplum a First World War commemorative outdoor performance. A new theatrical performance created for audiences of up to 3,000 people. It has been specially commissioned by Arts Council England and the five Tees Valley borough councils, to commemorate 100 years since the outbreak of WW1. The show will explore stories of how local peoples lives were affected by the War and the roles they took in it - as soldiers, nurses and munitions workers - at both the home front and foreign battlefields. The show content has been created from research materials gathered about the Great War by local libraries and archivists, including interviews with local residents.
The event is free, however a wristband is required which can be obtained from Monday 20th October at Middlesbrough Town Hall or Tuesday 21 October at the Dorman Museum. Please arrive 15 minutes before the performance which includes pyrotechnics and takes place on a grassed area. Please plan for the weather and wear suitable attire.
